1. Prepare a right size box. This is more difficult than you can imagine.
This box is a air-tight microwave-safe food container which costs $2.79 each.
2. Prepare some wires, bolts, stands, screws, switch, and the battery.
We got flat head screws and bolts from HomeDepot. ($1.50 for 4 set of them)
The stands (between bolt and screw in the picture) are the unused part from a stargate.
Switch is standard push-on push-off switch.
And the battery is 6 Volt, 4.6 AmpHr Lead battery.
3. Ofcourse, we need the vibecard (MDA400), accelerometer, and the mote (MicaZ).
4. First, drill two holes at the bottom of the box.
These holes will be used to securely fix the vibecard onto the box.
5. Let the vibecard have legs... using the stands and the bolts.
6. Then screw the vibecard into the box through the holes that we've drilled earlier.
7. Now, drill another big hole on the side for the switch.
We can turn the mote on/off with this switch without having to open the box every time.
But take care with the position in which you drill the hole.... otherwise...
8. If you drill too high, you might end up doing this.... drilling through the lid. :-(
9. Put the switch on the box, fix it, and connect the wire to the vibecard.
We are almost ready to connect the battery.
Put a strip of velcro on the box and the battery so that
the battery does not move around inside the box.
10. Chisel a small hole at the edge of the box so that the accelerometer wire can come out
without being pressured by the lid of the box.
11. Put the battery into box and connect it to the switch
12. Finally, plug the MicaZ mote onto the vibecard and close the lid. We are done!!
